Female infertility is caused by poor ovulation, damaged fallopian tubes or problems with the womb. After infertility testing, women can be treated with medications, surgery, IUI or IVF.
- Clomid Pills — prescribed to improve egg ovulation, typically part of a treatment plan
- Damaged Fallopian Tubes — tubal infertility is best treated with IVF
- Ectopic Pregnancy — unruptured ectopic is often treated with medication
- Endometriosis — many women with minimal to mild endometriosis have successful pregnancies with IVF
Miscarriages (Loss of Pregnancy)
Miscarriages and pregnancy losses at different stages of pregnancy are on the increase. Most Ob/Gyn doctors have no time and no experience to treat patients who lose every pregnancy they conceive.

Lifestyle Diet to Get Pregnant
Your daily nutrition plays a vital role in preparing your body for conception. What you eat directly influences your reproductive health, from egg quality to hormonal balance.
Whole foods over supplements — while supplements help, the foundation of fertility nutrition comes from a balanced, whole-food diet rich in natural sources of vitamins and minerals. Fresh vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, and healthy fats provide the building blocks your body needs for optimal reproductive function.
A fertility-focused lifestyle goes beyond just eating well — it includes maintaining a healthy weight, managing stress, staying active, and getting adequate sleep. Together, these factors create the ideal environment for conception.
Weight and fertility are closely linked. Both underweight and overweight conditions can disrupt ovulation and hormonal balance. Achieving a healthy BMI through proper nutrition and exercise is one of the most effective ways to improve your chances of getting pregnant naturally.
Blood sugar balance matters. Consuming complex carbohydrates like whole grains, legumes, and vegetables helps maintain stable glucose levels, which supports regular ovulation and reduces the risk of conditions like PCOS that affect fertility.
Healthy fats are fertility-friendly. Including sources of omega-3 fatty acids such as fatty fish, flaxseeds, and walnuts can reduce inflammation, support hormone production, and improve egg quality.
- Limit processed foods — reduce intake of refined sugars, trans fats, and artificial additives that can negatively impact hormonal balance
- Stay hydrated — adequate water intake supports cervical mucus production and overall reproductive health
- Moderate caffeine and alcohol — high consumption has been linked to reduced fertility and should be limited when trying to conceive
Key fertility-boosting foods to incorporate:
- Leafy greens — rich in folate, iron, and antioxidants that support egg health
- Berries and citrus fruits — packed with vitamin C and antioxidants that protect eggs from oxidative damage
- Legumes and beans — excellent plant-based sources of protein, fiber, and essential minerals
Timing matters. Starting a fertility-optimizing diet at least three months before trying to conceive allows your body to build nutrient stores and improve egg quality, as eggs mature over a 90-day cycle.
Lifestyle changes, including dietary improvements, should be implemented well in advance of conception. The three months before trying to get pregnant are critical for egg maturation and overall reproductive readiness.
Making gradual, sustainable changes to your eating habits is more effective than drastic diet overhauls. Small steps like adding an extra serving of vegetables to each meal or swapping refined grains for whole grains can create lasting improvements in fertility.
Achieving high outcomes and pregnancy rates for our patients is labor intensive. With every patient, we spend lots of time to identify and to correct whatever is potentially beneficial on the IVF outcomes and diet is a key to success!
Best Diet for Natural Fertility
Micro elements are key factors in women diet because they benefit female fertility and assisted reproduction. Micronutrients are necessary for successful pregnancy and baby.
Microelements are important vitamins and minerals not produced by the body and have to be taken with daily diet. Micronutrients have positive impact on female fertility, they help to produce good quality oocytes, improves oocyte maturation and fertilization, and later embryo implantation. Vitamins below recommended levels have been reported in more than half of infertile women.
Micro elements when restored to recommended levels are beneficial for natural conception, and help to improve infertility treatments, especially in making IVF more effective.
Micronutrients deficit needs to be restored in women diagnosed with other conditions decreasing fertility for example PCOS. Vitamin D supplement in women with PCOS undergoing IVF regulates menstruation and improves metabolic functions.
Folic acid, that is a vitamin B has shown to improve fertility and pregnancy outcomes and folic acid effects on fertility are dose depended. Intake of 400 μg of folic acid a day alone or in supplement combination increases conception in a single menstrual cycle, also in women with irregular menstruations.
Taking 800 μg of folic acid a day improves ovulation, increases chances for getting pregnant and shortens time to conception. Folic acid taken daily for at least one month before pregnancy and continued during first trimester prevents neural tube defects and makes baby healthy.
- Folic acid — improves ovulation, increases chances for getting pregnant and shortens time to conception
- Healthy & balanced diet — before conception positively correlates with serum and red blood cell (RBC) folate levels
- Folates — increase mature oocyte counts and improve fertilization rates
Multi Vitamins and minerals were given to women who failed to conceive for between 6 and 36 months. That treatment resulted in one-third of patients becoming pregnant compared with none in a placebo group. Higher progesterone levels were also reported.
Antioxidants are a sub-group of micro elements that protect cells from free radicals and oxidative stress being very important for getting pregnant. Antioxidants include vitamins A, C, E and minerals with copper, zinc and selenium.
- Free radicals and oxidative stress — well-known to lower fertility in female patients
- Women fertility decreases when antioxidant reserves are too low to protect DNA and other cell structures from oxidative damage
- Lowering oxidative stress — improves oocyte and embryo quality
Antioxidants have significant beneficial effect on fertility and those effects correlate with women BMI and age. Normal weight and normal BMI improve reproductive outcomes.
- Vitamin C & Beta-carotene — shorten time to pregnancy in women under 35 with normal BMI
- Vitamin E — recommended for older women
- Vitamin A & Zinc — improve oocyte quality and blastocyst formation by increased DNA production
Microelements are very important for IVF patients and show positive impact on follicular environment, oocyte and embryo quality, embryo implantation, and pregnancy ending in live birth. Supplementation taken before and during treatment are beneficial to improve pregnancy rates.
Antioxidants taken during IVF cycle improve treatment outcomes in all women being especially beneficial in older patient to produce higher number of good-quality oocytes and to increase ongoing pregnancy rates.
Women over 35 who take antioxidants have higher fertilization rates and produce better embryos to secure at least one good-quality blastocyst for transfer.
Most but not all studies evaluating effects of antioxidants on IVF show positive results. For example, Antioxidants for ICSI/IVF patients with unexplained infertility, did not produce difference in outcomes.
Micronutrients is a good first step for infertility patients, before more invasive therapies are recommended. Supplementation will improve general health and optimize fertility in all women ready to conceive. Supplements are well tolerated, produce no adverse events and little side effects.
Achieving high outcomes and pregnancy rates for our patients is labor intensive. With every patient, we spend lots of time to identify and to correct whatever is potentially beneficial on the IVF outcomes and diet is a key to success!
